Dear Danita,

Happy United Nations Day!

Today, on this 76th anniversary of the creation of the United Nations, we celebrate the critical role that U.N. peacekeeping missions have played in building global cooperation for peace. We call on Congress to support this essential work.

Act Now

U.N. peacekeeping missions work to prevent violence and protect civilians in some of the world’s most volatile conflict zones. These missions cost the American taxpayer eight times less than a similar U.S. military deployment.

All U.N. member states contribute to peacekeeping, and instead of sending troops, the United States pays dues. But over 25 years ago, Congress passed a law that has prevented the U.S. government from paying what it owes—causing the United States to accrue over $1 billion in debt since 2017 alone!

Fortunately, Rep. Sara Jacobs (CA-53) has introduced the U.S. Commitment to Peacekeeping Act (H.R. 4420), which would allow the United States to pay its dues on time and in full.

Please take a moment today to urge Rep. Brownley to support U.N. peacekeeping!

Ursala Knudsen-Latta Sincerely,

Ursala Knudsen-Latta
